How we get money

Unless we get money from somewhere no development can take place.
There are several ways we might get money.

1 Offices
Build offices with a non-profit making company (e.g. Claudius) and use profit to subsidise the rest of the area. Offices could be built on the sites marked on the maps.
But do we want more offices here
2 Central government
The government could agree to pay the present market value under a CPO (Compulsory Purchase Order) by Camden Council.
The Government has the power to do this under the 1971 Town and Country Planning Act and it should be forced to use it.
Geoffrey Rippon – Minister of the Environment has indicated that it is his intention. He should be made to keep his word.

Rippon statement
“Broadly speaking, however, he will be prepared to support compulsory purchase in areas of substantial shortage where  its demonstrated that acquisition is necessary or expedient in order to:
A)…….
B) Secure a comprehensive housing scheme on land which could not be satisfactorily developed as a whole within the existing pattern of land ownership”.
3 Housing Corporation
If we set up a housing association, government and local authorities make money available for buying and improving property on favourable repayment and interest terms.
