Who owns Tolmers Village

Tolmers Village Association exhibition panel, 1974

PANEL TEXT

Who owns Tolmers Village

Our area is mostly owned by people who neither live nor work here.
Their only interest in the place is profit.
They have been buying up small sites, and putting them together for grandiose large scale redevelopment schemes.
Land here now costs about £700,000 per acre.
This is largely due to GLC zoning and Camden Borough planning permission for what uses can be put on the land.
It is an artificial value which benefits only the property developers.
It means that rents are forced up, and that the cost of land for and ordinary house is now about £30,000.

What have the landowners been up to?  What can we do about it?
