Atalia ten Brink was born in Haifa, Israel and studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem between 1970 and 1972. She moved to London in July 1972 and lived at 12 Tolmers Square with Barry Shaw, Nick Wates, Caroline Lwin, Douglas Smith and Pedro George.
In 1975, she moved to 6 Tolmers Square with Barry Shaw and Rebecca Cadbury. In 1976, she obtained a BA in 3D Art and Design at the Central School of Art and Design in London.
In 1977, Atalia and Barry were married in Tolmers Square. In the same year, she had a studio at 401 and 1/2 Wandsworth Road and worked as a design and ceramics lecturer on a foundation course in Essex.
In 1979, they were evicted from Tolmers Square and moved to Newington Green. Atalia moved to film in the eighties and worked on several community arts projects and the art magazine ZG.
In 1985, Atalia married Professor Joram ten Brink, a filmmaker and university lecturer. They live in North West London and have one daughter.
From 1989-91, she worked for London Video Arts (today LUX) as an editor and tutor. From 1990, she was a film lecturer at the University Of Westminster, Central Saint Martins, and the London School Of Communication. She obtained an MA in Film and Media Arts from the University of Westminster in 1994 and works in film and as a designer, exhibiting her work internationally.
