Tolmers Village Association exhibition panel, 1974
PANEL TEXT
Whose space?
Tolmers Square itself is closed and derelict, fenced in by Stock Conversion. This space was originally designed as a garden for residents, inseparately related to the houses around.
Greedy landords built a church over it, which they turned into a cinema. When they knocked it down only the efforts of the TVA prevented it becoming a commuter car park.
The Square must become a garden again. The TVA demands that the council CPO the site and landscape it for local people.
